![]() ![]() Anyone expecting that will be sadly disappointed. My biggest gripe is that so many DVD companies who have released this try to pass it off as a serious horror film. The picture moved along briskly enough and wasn't a bore, though it didn't thrill me either. I really didn't laugh at anything in the movie, though it caused me to elicit a small chuckle a couple of times. Its a Corman picture so you know its a cheapie, as the monster is one of the silliest looking creatures I have ever seen. The acting in this film is fine for what it is and the actors play their roles like they should. Unfortunately for him, it turns out that the legend is true and there is really a sea monster. The gangster decides he would like the money the Cubans have brought along for his own and decides to bump them off one by one, blaming things on a local legend about a sea monster. The gangster also has his girlfriend with him and a couple of hired hands, one of which is his girlfriends brother and the other a strange fellow who makes animal noises all the time. Also aboard the boat is an undercover spy for the American government, who is trying to figure out what all is going on. They also bring along a large part of the Cuban treasury. The film is about an American gangster who agrees to transport a couple of Cuban military officers and some of their men off the island after Castro's revolution. Folks need to realize when they watch this to not expect a nail biting thriller or blood curdling horror film. Roger Corman obviously wanted to make a silly comedy with political undertones about the times, but always the businessman, he knew to throw in a monster and cool sounding title to bring in the ticket buying public. In fact, the said creature in the title has barely a presence in this film at all. Creature From the Haunted Sea is a broad farce first, a political satire second, and finally a horror film/creature feature third. The last Pink Floyd studio album, The Endless River (2014), was recorded without Waters and based almost entirely on unreleased material. So many people seem to believe that this was supposed to be a straight-up horror film. Barrett died in 2006, and Wright in 2008. After nearly two decades of enmity, Gilmour, Wright, and Mason reunited with Waters in 2005 to perform as Pink Floyd in London as part of the global awareness event Live 8 Gilmour and Waters stated they had no further plans to reunite the band. The three produced two more albums—A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and The Division Bell (1994)—and toured through 1994. Gilmour and Mason continued as Pink Floyd Wright rejoined them as a session musician and, later, band member. Following creative tensions, Wright left Pink Floyd in 1979, followed by Waters in 1985. They gained popularity performing in London's underground music scene during the late 1960s, and under Barrett's leadership released two charting singles and a successful debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). Pink Floyd were founded by students Syd Barrett on guitar and lead vocals, Nick Mason on drums, Roger Waters on bass and vocals, and Richard Wright on keyboards and vocals. By 2013, they had sold more than 250 million records worldwide. Pink Floyd were inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Distinguished by their philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, extended compositions, and elaborate live shows, they are one of the most commercially successful and influential groups in popular music history. They achieved international acclaim with their progressive and psychedelic music. ![]() Pink Floyd were an English rock band formed in London in 1965.
